Meta expects order to stop EU-US transfers, GDPR fine
Meta's quarterly filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission show it's bracing for a stop on EU-U.S. data flows and a "substantial" EU General Data Protection Regulation fine. Meta said the formal enforcement order by Ireland's Data Protection Commission, due by 12 May, could force a halt to its EU operations if the proposed EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework is not stood up before the order takes effect. The company added it expects the transfer mechanism to be in place before a stop but also "cannot exclude the possibility that it will not be completed in time." IAPP Staff Writer Joe Duball has the details.
