Ethiopia digital ID prompts fears of ethnic profiling

The Ethiopian government is introducing a national biometric digital ID system, funded by the World Bank, with the aim of registering all eligible adults by 2025. However, some Tigrayans fear that the system will be used to discriminate against them, particularly during the ongoing conflict between the government forces and Tigrayan rebels.
